Building Resilience: Thriving Through Challenges

Duration: 1 hour

Life doesn’t always go to plan. Deadlines pile up, plans fall through, setbacks happen, and things don’t always turn out the way we expect. Building Resilience: Thriving Through Challenges is a practical workshop designed to help students understand what resilience really is, how it develops, and why some people are able to adapt and grow through challenges while others feel stuck.

Grounded in scientifically proven positive psychology, this session explores how mindset, emotional responses, and the way we interpret events shape how we experience stress and setbacks. Through guided reflection and evidence-based strategies, you’ll learn how to manage stress, reframe challenges, and strengthen optimism and emotional balance over time.

The workshop is led by Cynthia Aisha Meguid, a positive psychology coach with over 20 years of experience, in a supportive and relatable learning environment.

What You’ll Learn:

    • What resilience is and which aspects are within your control
    • How to assess your current level of resilience and identify areas for growth
    • How your interpretation of events influences emotions, reactions, and behaviour
    • The role of negativity and positivity biases in shaping outlook and wellbeing
    • Evidence-based coping strategies and positive psychology tools to build long-term resilience

Who this workshop is for:

For students who feel stuck after setbacks, struggle to bounce back from stress or failure, overthink when things go wrong, or want practical tools to handle challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
